Frequently asked questions.

What is a “small paws” doggie daycare and pet hotel?

Good question! I specialize in caring for small dogs and providing them with the highest quality of care and comfort in my home. This means that we only accept dogs under 35 lbs. This allows me to offer focused pet care and a boutique experience for your pup (and you!)

What is your service area?

Our home base is located in the South Wrigley neighborhood of Long Beach! For pet taxi, we currently service the Long Beach area in a 10 mile radius for $20 one way, including but not limited to Los Alamitos, Lakewood, Cerritos, Cypress, and Signal Hill. Additional fees of $5 may apply for client’s homes located outside this radius. This is a small business and we are expanding, so feel free to ask if we service your address by sending me a message!

Why should I choose Love & Paws?

It’s in the name: because I do everything with LOVE! I am committed to ensuring that both my doggie clients and human clients are happy by prioritizing safety, fun, and communication. Plus, you’re supporting a woman-owned, legally operated and insured, small business.

What are the requirements for service?

All dogs need to be up to date on vaccines and on a flea preventative treatment. I do require a meet and greet before service. This not only helps you meet me to feel comfortable, but your pup as well! They’ll have a chance to meet me, my dogs, and get acclimated to the space before their first day of daycare or boarding. Meet and greets are free and last about 20 minutes. I do also require information such as veterinary contact, proof of vaccinations, any allergies, and general history. If your dog is food, toy, lap possessive, that’s totally normal. We can mediate situations as long as we are made aware beforehand!

How do you accept payment?

Accepted payment methods are Paypal, Zelle, and cash. Payment is due at time of booking.

Are tips customary?

Tips are not required but much appreciated! Most come to around 10% of the total, but are entirely up to your discretion if you choose to tip.

How many dogs do you have for daycare/dogsitting?

To provide the most personal attention to your pets, I have no more than 10 dogs at a time. I keep it small on purpose– it’s safer, cozier, and we all get to be best friends faster!

My dog is “leash reactive.” Will you still walk them?

Yep! Lots of dogs are leash reactive and I’m still happy to walk them. I practice a double loop leash technique and two-handed technique so I have a firm grip. As I get to know your dog's triggers, I can practice avoidance on walks to have the most comfortable experience possible!

What are your hours of operation?

Services are offered Monday-Sunday and some holidays! Calendar is subject to change. Please inquire about specific dates and scheduling. Hours for daycare/sitting is flexible— I understand that several professions require nightshifts or long shifts and I can work with you to find a solution that best fits your needs.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes! You can cancel service free of charge with at least 24 hour notice. Cancelling with less than 24 hours notice will incur a $15 cancellation fee.

“No Call” Cancellations will be charged the full amount of service.

If you cancel with less than 24 hour notice often, I may decide to terminate services with you. When you book service with me, I’m holding a slot for you and your pet. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, I will likely not be able to fill that slot.

Do you have a referral program?

Yep! If you refer a friend and they book a service, you will receive a $20 discount on your next booking and your friend will receive a $20 discount on their first service.
